Places to See in Visakhapatnam

Before we go in depth into each of the places in Vizag and spot light them from time to time, we wanted to give you a brief list of places to see in Visakhaaptnam. If your visiting Vizag or if you are just looking for new places to explore this article should be good start for you.

Ramakrishna Beach in VizagRamaKrishna Beach

One of the most visited places in Visakhapatnam, RK Beach is a must see place. The beach is actually a huge streach but the actual tourist spot would be the junction where the NTR statue is.
The Durga temple is must see if you are into temples, with its loud bells going off frequently for "harathi".
  • Be sure to visit the aquarium located very near to the temple on the road, it is actually very good and up to date but also cheap.
  • The RK Beach actually gets it name from the RamaKrishna Mission near the beach. It is a peaceful temple clean and calm, definitely worth the 2 minute walk up the hill to it.
  • If you are fond of collecting souveniers, check out the corels and shell vendors, they sell very good stuff at a cheap price. Don't forget to bargain to alteast half of what they ask for :)

Rushikonda Beach
Rushikonda Beach

If you are not fan of busy and crowded beaches, this is the place to go to. Not very far from the city this beach has fewer crowds and so has a much cleaner beach and water too. It is a picnic place though, so sometime you have bus loads of people spending the whole day at this spot.

KailashgiriKailahsgiri in Visakhapatnam

In the last 15 years, Kailashgiri has grown from a seldom visited place to the most visited tourist spot in the city. The hill has been majorly remodeled over the years and a lot of attactions have been added. be sure to take the train, its a fun ride day or night and worh the money. If you are like me and are not too scared or worry about small things, you could take the cable car from the bottom of the hill to the top. The cable cars though don't seem to be really well mantained but nothing big happened till now and we can "safely" assume that the entire setup is safe!

VUDA Park

VUDA park has been there for decades and decades but still continures to enjoy the city dwellers day in and day out. In the mornings, you will see a lot of joggers and walkers all over the park. Tha park itself isnt not that special but the proximity to the beach gives it the extra look and calmness to it. be sure to checkout the beach behind the park, its a little different from RK beach or other beaches and I'm sure you will be happy you checked it out.
