Rs 1500 Crores has been set aside by the State Government for development of Zoos in the state. Vizag along with Hyderabad, Tirupathi and Warangal will share this amount. The Zoo will host Zebra's and Giraffes set to arrive from different parts of Africa.
Although it will be a while before we see any kind of improvements or changes at the park, it is a welcome gift from the government, which will turn the Zoo into an ecopark with consultants from major international agencies.The Vizag Zoo also plans to have an auditorium where chidren can be educated via videos about different wild animals and their habitat. Even though, many activists think capturing animals and displaying them in such parks is inhumane, it will do good over all. If you want people to think about animals and help in the eradication of poaching or deforestation etc, it is important for them to see what they are helping to preserve. If more chidren have access to these amazing creatures, they will be more likely in supporting the animal rescue agencies around world or around the corner.
