It took the death of 5 students for the officials to wake up and think about the safety of the beach goers in Vizag. Although it is well known that the beaches at Rushikonda and Yarada are particularly known for drownings over the years, VUDA has done little to amend the situation.

But now all that might change with the officials thinking about setting up watch towers at high traffic areas like RK Beach and Rushikonda. Although only in a proposal stage, it is likely that the government might act on this in a measure to contain the number of deaths at beaches both in and around the city.
